What to Look For When Buying a Bathtub

If you are considering a bathroom makeover or just have an old tub you need to replace, there are a lot of options out there today when it comes to getting a new tub.

Here’s a checklist of things to consider before you buy:

Style – One of the first things you are going to need to consider is the style of the tub you want. This will in part depend on the decor you have going on in your bathroom. If you are going for a more modern look you may want a tub with a sleek design. If you have an old country or Victorian feel, you may want a freestanding four-footed tub to suit that theme.

Location – Where are you going to put the tub. Whether you are going to want a traditional wall tub, one that fits in a corner or a different space will depend on how you are trying to make the best use of space in your bathroom.

Soak or Shower? – Do you use your bathtub as a tub regularly or is it just the container your shower is in? This will make a difference in deciding whether you want a bathtub with comfort features for a soaking bath or if you want something simple that acts as mainly a base for your shower.

Soaking Room
– If you know you will regularly take baths, you need to consider the size of the tub you are putting in your bathroom. A small, normal tub does not give you the space you need to stretch out and really soak. You may want to look for larger soaking tubs where you can remain comfortable as you kick back.

Whirlpool – Instead of just taking a typical bath, do you want to feel like you are at the spa? Perhaps you want to look into Whirlpool tubs that offer massaging jets to give you that spa feeling while you are getting clean.

All of these decisions will need to be made and once you know what you want, you will be able to pinpoint the perfect tub for your home.

Review:PRIMO EuroBath Just For Babies

primo-eurobathWhen you have a new addition to your household, there are a lot of things to take into account to ensure all your baby’s needs met. One of those things is making sure is making your baby has a safe place to take a bath.

Bath time should be fun for parent and baby alike, not stressful. But if you are forced to hold your baby up with one hand while trying to wash him with the other, you maPostsy go from happy parent to stressed bather in no time.

This is why the PRIMO EuroBath was invented. This bath has two different sloping sides that will be usable by your baby from birth up to 2 years of age.

Both sides of the bath have support to keep your baby from slipping below the water’s surface – and the anatomical shape that keeps baby’s bottom in place  and there are arm and leg supports to keep your baby in a seated position.

Once you fill the baby bath, you can take all the time you need to wash, shampoo and rinse, then pull the plug in the bottom and the water is gone. Once dry, hang it on the back of a door where it will be out of the way until the next bath time.

The bath has a built in drain and two places where you can pop the soap, shampoo and washer out of the way.

What We Like:

  • The non-toxic polypropylene plastic cleans up easily.
  • It’s easy to use, just fill with water and it’s ready to go.
  • It has a place to hold baby’s shampoo, soap and sponge.
  • It is large so it will last your child for a long time.

Other Things to Consider:

  • It’s big for a small baby and may not offer the support you need.
  • It’s very large measuring 36″ long x 21″ wide x 10″ deep, and bulky (maybe too big to put on most counters)
  • It can leak around the plug hole
  • The baby can slide down the infant side of the tub
  • If your baby tries to pull themselves up they may slip and fall as the surface is slippery.

How To Choose A Shower Curtain

shower-curtain-expressions-deep-blueBathroom shower curtains are available in an extensive range of styles, patterns, colors, and a variety of textures including plastic, vinyl, fabric and rice paper. Your biggest problem will be deciding on which pattern to choose to compliment your bathroom.

Use brightly colored curtains in nautical styles, dolphins ,  animal prints, novelty prints, designer colors and textures and abstract designs to bring life to a tired looking bathroom.

Shower curtains come in a range of sizes to suit different styles and sizes of shower stalls and bathtubs including the old-style claw foot bathtub. To compliment a bathroom with an old style bathtub purchase a curtain that suits the era. Shower curtains in a subtle color are probably more suited to an older style bathroom rather than an abstract design or bold colors, which are more suited to a modern bathroom design.

Check if your shower curtains come packaged with shower hooks to match. There is an extensive range of plain and novelty shower rings including football shapes, fish hook shapes, rubber duck shapes, seashell shapes; in fact an almost endless number of styles. Novelty shower hooks will add character to your bathroom.

The necessary care of your curtains depends on the material base. Nylon shower curtains will only require a wipe over with a damp cloth whereas fabric curtains may be machine or hand-washed using a mild detergent. Always read the instructions to ensure you launder them correctly. Your bathroom will look 100% with curtains that are kept clean and free from mold.
