It sure is good to get a bit of extra information when renovating (or thinking about it). If you are looking for some expert tips, I also recommend visiting Masterrenovator.com, the guy has very good information on things that I never even thought of.

Rating
i have some very difficult toilet users in my house-very large, lots of food volume, and athletes, with their friends--the toto toilet investment is absolutely a must. we just went through a master bathroom remodel and i was looking at remodeling jobs on various sites, and saw a comment on a beautiful bathroom basically gushing over the toilet, and the response from the person who submitted the picture, gushing back. i had never heard anyone gushing over a toilet before, so i looked into it, especially since we are constantly having issues with our toilets, and started realizing that there is an ever increasing number of toto loyalists. i found the toto ms854114sg-01 for 383.00, or so, delivered, and decided my new bathroom was going to join the ranks of the toto elite. two plus weeks later, and i can say that i like it very much, and my one son, the main offender, used it once, that i know of, and gave it his best shot, and it still functions. i may give an update in a few months, but as of this writing, i think that if this one is still functioning as well as it is now, we are going to replace the other two toilets with totos. you basically spend a little less for some other toilet that you find at a large home improvement store, but in the end it is only a very small amount of money compared with the reliability, and peace of mind from knowing that you don't have to worry about the basic operation of an object in your home, which we do have to worry about constantly, and are soooo willing to stop worrying about, and do the shopping online to find the best price and pay just a little more for something that actually works like it should.

Rating
I had an old toilet in my house that would occasionally need plunging after it got clogged, especially when my kids used it.

As it was a guest bathroom, I was constantly in fear of the it overflowing or clogging when I wasn't around.

So, I after much research on the internet, we bought one of these Champion toilets from Home Depot.

1. In two years, NOT ONE clogged toilet!!!!

2. It's got a louder flush than a standard toilet, but it's totally worth it. (if it was quieter, i'd give it 5 stars)

3. I had to return the first one I bought because it leaked, but I returned it right away and the second one I got was perfect. I'm slowly going to replace my other toilets with this model.

Conclusion: No more clogged toilets with this one!

We bought this model of Toto from Amazon about two months ago. It replaced an Eljer model that had been highly rated in Consumer Reports back in 2003 that got backed-up multiple times a week. Older low flow toilets did not work well in houses that had plumbing for conventional 3.4 (or more) gallons per flush toilets. The TOTO was engineered specifically for a powerful flush without having to have a pressure assist mechanism in the tank and without the pipes having to be plumbed for a low flow toilet. This toilet has never gotten stopped up despite being the only usable toilet in a house with five users. This toilet was rated very highly on Terry Love's plumbing blog on the section on consumer reviews of low flow toilets. You can see it here: [...]
We bought it from Amazon because the price was much cheaper than anywhere else and had zero problems with the delivery. It was hundreds less than our local plumbing specialty supply store.

I only wish we could have two more just like it.

Attractive looking, but all jets do not always function. A little too large unless you have very strong water pressure.

Very good article! I appreciate your post on energy saving techniques. I agree that we need to generally use less electricity and also acknowledge that a site such as Switch Wise would be very useful to the readers of this site in finding ways to save money on electricity.

obviously you dont want to spend 100 bucks on a shower head, but i think it is worth it. I feel like i am in a luxury hotel every time i take a shower. It is really big and gives you a nice stream of water over your entire body.

The toilet is great. It even came with a seat. Shipping was quick. I like the fact that it is U.S. made.

Rating
During a recent home remodel we decided to purchase new toilets for both of our bathrooms. As always I did my research and found that many people suggested this as the one to get however with the price so high I wanted to be very sure before pleading my case to my wife! I spoke to a classmate who has been a professional plumber since high school (25+ years) and as soon as I mentioned the brand he told me it is by far the best unit on the market. After hearing that he uses these toilets at home :) I decided to bite!

True to what I have read and the response from my friend I have to admit that this is the BEST toilet that we have ever purchased. The units have been installed and used now for a year and we have not had one problem with the operation. So far both my youngest son and grandson have not been able to impeed the unit.

The one piece design is very sleek and unique and has received many good comments from our bathroom visitors. It has a very unique flushing sound which is due to the design of flush and the water saving feature. Finally I opted for the unit with the sanagloss finish which allows the refuse to go down without leaving any traces! I have to admit that there are times some traces can be found but it is very rare! This was part of my plea to my wife and after hearing that it required less cleaning she was sold.

I would recommend you search both high and low for the best price. I finally found these units from a plumbing supply shop in Montana and after I told them I would buy two units they worked me a deal I cound'nt pass up. Basically I got both units with shipping for just over $600.

The units arrived on-time however because of the weight they were sent via freight. Both units were indivually boxed and mounted on a pallet and about two weeks later my friend and plumber came over to professionally install them!

One thing to note is that no additional parts or accessories were needed although you can get a heated seat or automatic seat we just choose the regular seat which is soft close seat, which means the seat will not slam against the porcelain it just slowly closes without any sound. This will cause one problem and that is whenever I travel or use restrooms at other places I tend to just let the seat go (thinking I am at home) of course alerting everyone within ear range of what I just did!

All in all I feel you would be very happy with this purchase at least we are.
