Effective lighting

The right lighting can really add the finishing touches to your bathroom design. Whether you are renovating or just updating your bathroom a bit, the right lighting will complete your vision. There are great lights available that may not be meant for a bathroom, but will fit in nicely with your decor.

One very effective lighting source is lighted vanities. Lighted vanities work because they provide enough light to apply make up, cut hair, or shave which are very  important activities generally undertaken in the bathroom. The lighted vanity also illuminates the entire bathroom so it is functional as well as attractive.

Chandeliers in the bathroom have become more common these days. Bathrooms are becoming an extension of the living space, which means we are bringing more decorative items into the room, so style is important. Chandeliers go well over vanities, bathtubs, or in the center of the room. Many find that a chandelier adds an element of romance to the bathroom as well as the peace and serenity that many people desire when they are taking a hot bath after a long week of work.

Track lighting suits modern style bathrooms as it is edgy enough to fit into the modern scheme, and yet it provides enough light for it to be functional. Most lighting stores sell a wide variety of track lighting; some of it bright and colorful and other options are very understated, making this an ideal bathroom lighting solution.

Recessed lighting is popular in bathrooms because it allows homeowners to strategically place each light so that it serves a purpose and creates ambience. Recessed lighting suits just about any style bathroom, big or small, vintage or modern.

A dimmer switch in the bathroom is an effective way to control the light at all times.  Installing a dimmer switch allows you to have the bright light you need in the morning as you get ready for work, but then you can dim the lights for your evening bath. Effectively lighting your bathroom is about getting the light that you need, and when you can get the different degrees of light from the one source, that is a cost effective use of your lighting.

Lighting in the bathroom is all about personal preference, and there are many options for everyone to choose from. Bathroom lighting can help create ambience as well as the light necessary to perform daily functions. With the right lighting, bathrooms will be both beautiful and functional.
