Are you wondering what to look for when buying bathroom lighting?  There are a few simple things to keep in mind. The first thing is of course style. Next is brightness, finally you’ll need to choose the type of light.

Style: There are all sorts of styles of bathroom lighting fixtures out there. You’ll be able to find a great unit to meet your needs in whatever style fits your bathroom and budget. When looking for styles one of your best bets is to go with a multiple bulb unit. If that isn’t to your taste then you can always go with a long fluorescent tube style lights.

Brightness: You need really bright light in the bathroom.  If you went with a multiple bulb unit then you’ll want to install the highest wattage bulb that it will accommodate. If the room is still too dark you have another option. You can install compact fluorescent bulbs into the fixture. Since compacts use much less energy than standard bulbs you can upsize the compact to get even more light out of the fixture.

Type of Light: Every type of light has a different color to it.  Fluorescent bulbs have a greenish hue to them. They’re great for general lighting but can throw off the color of the room. To counter this you can find bulbs that emit a more natural light.  You can find more natural light options at a hardware store or even a nursery that has grow lamps for their plants.

Style, brightness and the type of light are the three biggest considerations when you are deciding what to look for when buying bathroom lighting. Just look for the style that fits your bathroom, a unit that gives off plenty of light and if you’re so inclined a more natural tone.
