If you are renovating a bathroom or about to decorate a bathroom in a new home, one of the vital things you will need in a bathroom, other than a sink and toilet, is a mirror. This is the main mirror you will use in the house when you are getting ready for work, doing your hair, or any of a host of other activities.

While you may think any old mirror will do, you should really keep a few tips in mind when selecting a mirror for your bathroom:

  • Size - When choosing a mirror for your bathroom, make sure you get one that is large enough to let you see everything you want to see. One of the trends is to cover the whole wall over the sink and counters with a mirror. This not only gives you plenty of space to take a look at how things are going as you get ready, but it also has the effect of making the bathroom look larger.

  • Countertop of Wall – Where are you going to put your mirror? While you may know which wall you are going to put it on, how are you going to hang it? Is the mirror going to be attached to the back of your countertop or are you planning to attach it to your wall? The answer to these questions may limit your choices. If you are going to attach to your countertop, you need to make sure the mirror you choose will fit the counter. If you are attaching to a wall, you need to find where the studs are located in your wall and make sure you can anchor the mirror to those stronger beams in the wall to make sure it will stay in place.

  • Lighting – The final consideration is lighting. You want to make sure that your mirror will have adequate lighting so you will be able to see well enough to let it serve it’s purpose. Many bathrooms have lighting just over the mirror to really brighten up your view
